As a developer it can be very easy to just focus on the financials of a development. For us it really is about creating homes that we would want to live in. It is not just about getting the external look and feel of the property and flow correct it is thinking beyond that when it comes to aesthetics.
For each development our interior designer Lorna Raynor works alongside our senior team to establish a design concept that works in relation to the plot, location and it’s history.
For our development in Bourne it was very much about looking at a biophilic design (designing with nature for mutual benefit) especially as every property would have riverside gardens. A huge amount of research is carried out whilst looking at the history and local area, the types of interior trends that would work in relation to the style of homes being developed, colour palettes to enhance the space, how the light will work to enhance each room and of course understanding and ensuring all of this works with the different types of people choosing to live here.
We thought it would interesting for you to understand just how we are achieving this.
Within the homes at Bourne our interior design concept was based on the location and history of the site.
Biophilic Design
Incorporate nature into the indoor environment
Creating a calming space with a visual connection to nature
This would be achieved by:
Reflecting the patterns from plants and wate in interior finishes (fabric, wallpaper and soft furnishings)
Use a colour scheme based on Bourne Eau
Place indoor house plants throughout
Use natural materials and finishes such as wood, wicker and stone
Industrial heritage
Incorporate the developments industrial heritage by continuing the theme of the exterior
Use raw materials such as exposed wood
By connecting the nature and industrial themes together we have been able to create a unique interior design scheme that would appeal to those who are looking for more from their new build. It would be design lead, with an interior that pushes beyond normal and expected and a refreshing change from similar properties that have a generic less inspired finish.
Visitors of the property will feel calm, inspired and relaxed when they set foot inside as it will feel like a breath of fresh air and they will want to spend time here.
You will be able to visit yourself and view the interiors when the show home opens in May 2023.
